Fuel System Problems That Prevent Starting<\/h2>\n

When your generator refuses to start, the fuel system is often the culprit. Here are the most common fuel-related causes and how to diagnose them.<\/p>\n

1. Empty or Low Fuel Tank<\/h2>\n

The most obvious cause. Check the fuel gauge and physically inspect the tank level.<\/p>\n

2. Clogged Fuel Filter<\/h2>\n

A blocked filter prevents fuel from reaching the injectors. Replace the filter if it hasn’t been changed recently.<\/p>\n

3. Air in the Fuel System<\/h2>\n

Air pockets in the fuel lines prevent proper fuel delivery. Bleed the fuel system following your engine manual’s procedure.<\/p>\n

4. Faulty Fuel Lift Pump<\/h2>\n

The lift pump moves fuel from the tank to the injection system. If it fails, no fuel reaches the engine.<\/p>\n

5. Stuck or Leaking Fuel Injectors<\/h2>\n

Injectors that are stuck open or closed, or leaking, will prevent proper combustion.<\/p>\n

6. Contaminated Fuel<\/h2>\n
